Bettering the world is Sheila Mokoboto-Zwane's passion. As head of the UBS Optimus Foundation’s regional Southern Africa office in the Johannesburg area, Dr. Mokoboto-Zwane reviews grant proposals for an array of charitable endeavors.
Responsible for recommending proposals to the banking foundation’s head office in Zurich, Dr. Mokoboto-Zwane monitors and personally visits funded site projects. Along with formulating strategic planning initiatives, she hosts philanthropic conferences and represents UBS within the nonprofit community. In addition to holding a non-executive director role at the Charities Aid Foundation, Dr. Mokoboto-Zwane is a fellow of the the Leadership and Innovation Network for Collaboration in the Children’s Sector.
Ms. Mokoboto-Zwane has more than two decades of management experience. Before moving into her current position in 2008, she was a corporate manager for the South African National Parks system. In addition to serving as a country head for ChildFund International, Dr. Mokoboto-Zwane was a senior lecturer for 10 years at the Medical University of Southern Africa in Pretoria.
A member of the Institute of Directors, Dr. Mokoboto-Zwane holds doctoral and master’s degrees in psychiatric nursing from the University of Johannesburg. She attributes her professional success to her work ethic and her perseverance, and in the future she hopes to facilitate the adoption of Optimus projects by governmental bodies in multiple African countries.
